The term luxury yacht refers to a very expensive privately owned yacht which is professionally crewed. Also known as a super-yacht or a mega-yacht, a luxury yacht may be either a sailing or motor yacht. This term began to appear at the beginning of the 20th century when wealthy individuals constructed large private yachts for personal pleasure. Examples of early luxury motor yachts include M/Y (motor yacht) Christina O and M/Y Savarona. Early luxury sailing yachts include Americas Cup classic J class racers like S/Y (sailing yacht) Endeavour and Sir Thomas Lipton’s S/Y Shamrock. The New York Yacht Club hosted many early luxury sailing yacht events at Newport, Rhode Island, during the Gilded Age. |

Warren Yachts
( 5 items )
In the early 80’s Warren Yachts began building their unique vision of the custom motor yacht, a vision shared by the most sophisticated of Australian and New Zealand yachtsmen. Influenced by the desire for speed and perfection, Warren was creating and building yachts of uncommon elegance and high performance. In 1995, Warren Yachts, having gained a reputation as a builder whose passion and ethics were as desirable their extraordinary products, was positioned on the leading edge of a new wave. It is here the company felt most comfortable as the gurus of high speed, high style and wildly inventive engineering solutions. Warren yachts defined the Super Sport Yacht years before the class would gain recognition and acceptance. The Warren Super Nova, was a new breed. She had the first retractable hardtop in the category. Her lines were smoother and sleeker, unlike her more boxy counterparts, and the quality was extraordinary. The focus on fit, finish and material selection was true custom build throughout. The European’s who were now manufacturing fiberglass Sport Yachts were not in the same league. The company strived for perfection and understood that there are no short cuts, that there are no unsolvable engineering problems and there is no reason to build less than a perfect yacht. In 2003, the Shipworks Group acquired Warren Yachts, retaining Dave Warren as its master builder. Its eight-acre shipyard in Brisbane, Australia is the most advanced boatbuilding operation in the region, with C&C computerized cutting machines, 100-ton crane, 650-ton travel lift and a quarter mile of deep-water frontage. Its workforce of 275 continues to grow as the company expands into new international markets with its line of custom sport yachts. Warren Yachts currently maintains fulltime service networks in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Florida Contact: Mervyn Monger Office: (954) 701-4073
